Huguette Clark, Reclusive Heiress, Leaves Bulk Of $400 Million Fortune To Art Charity, Nurse

Huguette Clark spent the last 20 years of her life living in almost total isolation. She had cut off all contact with her family, preferring instead the company of her collection of dolls.

In addition to being a recluse, Clark was also a very wealthy woman. The heiress to a Montana copper mining concern, she owned a 42-room apartment on New York's Fifth Avenue, an oceanfront estate in Santa Barbara, California and a country manor in Connecticut. Her net worth was estimated to be around $400 million.

So when Clark died last month in a New York hospital at age 104, it raised questions as to what would become of her vast wealth and assets.

Some of those questions were answered on Wednesday when her will was filed in a Manhattan court. Clark has left the bulk of her huge estate to charity: her California Estate is to become a museum, and her extensive collection of art, musical instruments and rare books will go to a foundation that will be set up to promote the arts, according to People magazine.

Hadassah Peri, the nurse who cared for Clark over the last two decades of her life, was left $37 million as well as Clark's treasured doll collection. Peri was an agency nurse randomly assigned to care for Clark in 1991, according to MSNBC. In addition:

Peri spent more time with Clark over the last 20 years than anyone else and "earned the title of 'loyal friend and companion,' " according to a statement from Dadakis' law firm, Holland & Knight.

Clark's closest relatives were left nothing, raising the prospect of legal challenges to the will. Her relatives have pursued legal action in the past -- the Los Angeles Times reports that several of Clark's relatives unsuccessfully argued in court that she was being exploited by her attorney and her accountant.

The New York Times reports that both men are also beneficiaries of the will, each receiving $500,000. Last year, New York prosecutors started an ongoing investigation into allegations that Clarks's estate was being mismanaged.

Dogs Beat Humans In Push Car Race

You know you need to re-think your push car strategy when a pup flattens you in a race. Of course, these are no ordinary dogs.

Ruger and Rain, two adorable Australian Cattle Dogs, are actually pro push car racers. Along with a Facebook fan page, they have an active YouTube channel where the pups highlight their good times, including - but never limited to - riding on scooters, driving plastic cars and pushing cats around in strollers.

President Obama Can Charm Even A Hysterically Crying Baby

With his daughters in double digits, President Obama probably hasn't had to soothe a sobbing baby for several years.
But in the video below, the Dad-In-Chief looks like a total pro. When a fan gives her crying child to Michelle and the baby wails away, Barack laughs and says, "You better give her back!" But instead Michelle hands the little girl over and much to everyone's shock (especially Michelle -- that facial expression is priceless), the baby immediately stops crying.
President Obama, meanwhile, just bounces the tot around with an "I told you so" smile on his face. Yeah, he's that good.

Oldest light bulb still burning after 110 years

An American town is preparing to celebrate a light bulb that has been glowing more-or-less continuously since 1901.

The four watt bulb, installed in a fire station in Livermore, California, has been declared the oldest known working light bulb by the Guinness Book of World Records.
The bulb was a gift from a businessman in 1901 and with the exception of a brief period in 1903, a week in 1937 and some power outages between then and 1976, the light has remained on.
Lynn Owens, the chairman of the town's light bulb centennial committee, said that the light's longevity has baffled scientists.
He said: "Nobody knows how it's possible. It is a 60 watt bulb and it's only turned on for about four watts but nobody knows why it keeps burning.
"We've had scientists from all over the country look at this light bulb. Of course nobody has ever been able to touch this it," he added.

Joshua Seater Urinates In Portland Reservoir, Costs City $33K To Drain

PORTLAND, Ore. – The man who urinated in a Mount Tabor reservoir said he’s sorry he did it but wonders what all the fuss is about.

"It was dark; it was night; I was under the influence of alcohol," Josh Seater told KATU News Thursday, the day after he was caught on a surveillance camera going No. 1 in Reservoir No. 1 in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.

The video shows the shenanigans leading up to it. He and his friends threw things into the water. Then he said it just happened.

"Within a split second of me taking a urine in there, right afterwards, I felt guilty," he said. "I knew I did wrong when I did it."

He barely had time to zip up his pants before security guards got there. Seater hasn't been charged with a crime but it could happen. But he just doesn't get why.

"They've been pulling out dead animals, other feces, am I the first one to pee in the in the fountain?"

No, but he was caught, and it's going to be an expensive flush for the city of Portland. It'll cost about $36,000 - $7,500 to drain the reservoir plus it's $28,000 worth of drinking water down the drain. Not to mention the "ick" factor.

"That is disgusting. I didn't know it was a water supply, otherwise I wouldn’t have done it. I thought it was a sewage plant," Seater said.

He says he's sorry. He was drunk and it was stupid, but he says he thinks the city should also take some responsibility.

"If they are going to be so uptight about me making an accident like I did, why aren't they going to do anything to prevent that?" he said.

The Portland Water Bureau does have a plan to cover the reservoirs to comply with federal regulations, although it is trying to get a waiver so they don't have to spend the millions it will take to do that.

Seater said if he's fined for what happened, he won’t be able to pay. But he said he's up for some community service.

Unique House Designs

The Longaberger Basket Company building in Newark, Ohio might just be a strangest office building in the world. The 180,000-square-foot building, a replica of the company’s famous market basket, cost $30 million and took two years to complete. Many experts tried to persuade Dave Longaberger to alter his plans, but he wanted an exact replica of the real thing.

This project, located in the heart of Kansas City, represents one of the pioneer projects behind the revitalization of downtown. The people of Kansas City were asked to help pick highly influential books that represent Kansas City. Those titles were included as ‘bookbindings’ in the innovative design of the parking garage exterior, to inspire people to utilize the downtown Central Library.

The house is owned by the daughter of the ex-president of Vietnam, who studied architecture in Moscow. It does not comply with any convention about house building, has unexpected twists and turns, roofs and rooms. It looks like a fairy tale castle, it has enormous “animals” like a giraffe and a spider, no window is rectangular or round, and it can be visited like a museum.

Have you heard about Einstein’s theory of curvature of space and time? In any case, skip this unusual house seem to be caught between the twisted worlds, impossible. The building is located in the center of Sopot, and reflects the art for Dahlberg and Jan Marcin Szancer, both of them have created a bizarre scene that led to life Crooked House ..

Then erase the line between nature and architecture, this building Technological University is an outstanding example of green construction with smooth shapes, grass roof, which, and the internal structure with a protective coating. In the urban landscape dotted with traditional buildings, which will automatically hold the heat, CPG Consultants offers award-winning design that will have cooling properties with a roof system, rainwater harvesting and intelligent sensors. It seems as if the glass, concrete and metal structure is cut into its wooded valley, speaking as a natural continuation of the landscape.

Prior to his imminent destruction, Houston-based arts trio Kate Petley, Dan Havel and Dean, Rick decided to make an unusual property in the area of Montrose, turning it into a small but very memorable set called “tunnel” or “Hole”. The central tunnel like the wind in the tunnel, as it spilled out into outer space structure, besides the local audience could experience at first hand how Alice in Wonderland fantasy (or nightmare, depending on the circumstances), before all this was finally demolished in 2005 . We can only contemplate these photos and dream about their country of miracles.

Probe launched after air stewardess performs topless mid-air striptease for the captain

An investigation has been launched after a video of a topless French air stewardess performing a sexy striptease for the captain while the plane was flying was leaked on to the internet.
Despite the plane being in the air – and with several hundred passengers presumably blissfully unaware of what is going on – the sexy cabin attendant removes her bra and lets the captain and co-pilot get hands on.
The video was leaked onto the internet by members of the French crew and has sparked a major probe at several European airlines to discover the crew members responsible.

Smokers will always be.

It is a nasty habit, it is very unhealthy, you spend a lot of money on it, it leads to all kinds of health problems, makes you less attractive, smells bad, makes people avoid you, harms the people around you and yet everyone around the world seems to be doing it. Yes! I am talking about smoking of course.

UPSIDEDOWN houses

Upside down houses: they’re more common then you think… but why? Perhaps the artists and designers of these flipped out homes wanted to shake up the way we think of society’s most pressing need, shelter. Maybe they just wanted to stand out from the crowd. In that at least, they’ve succeeded.
